Air traffic control
Steria’s transport expertise extends to the technology behind a high-available management solution. This is already being used by DFS, the organisation with responsibility for air traffic control in Germany
The air traffic control infrastructure operated by DFS includes a wide range of components from different vendors. The permanent operation and availability of all these components is essential. It is the basis for the safe and reliable management of all flights in German air space. This demands the permanent and efficient monitoring of all components and Steria’s solution meets this requirement. We are the prime contractor and have overall project responsibility including installation, training and maintenance.
The solution is designed to control dedicated subparts of the DFS infrastructure. These comprise radar sites, ATC systems, networks and applications in the airport towers and control centres. It has given DFS a unified view of the equipment supplied by its different vendors. This means DFS is able to react to all events in the same way. Previously DFS had to work with the vendor-specific management systems, but this has now changed.
In addition, the solution supports the remote analysis and operation needed to optimise the onsite missions of engineers. It also enables the appropriate allocation of spare parts.
