Establishing access to time-critical, patient clinical history

In collaboration with Osakidetza (Basque Health Services), Steria's home-grown clinical history management application Osabide goes far beyond providing stale administrative data. This electronic health record (EHR) is a living and breathing, organically-grown e-document that delivers powerful, critical information capable of being shared seamlessly and securely across various platforms, enterprise-wide.

The solution empowers doctors and nurses to improve their decision-making and speed up treatment (surgical and medicinal) based on relevant and timely information. This includes information on medical history, medication and allergies, immunisation status, laboratory test results, radiology images and billing. It is shared across different healthcare settings via an embedded network-connected enterprise-wide information system.

Implementing best practice for best results

As a specialised SAP partner, Steria dominates in SAP IS-H customisation with other applications. This customisation is designed specifically for use in hospitals to support patient management, medical and nursing documentation and patient accounting, while integrating with financial accounting, controlling and materials management. The information system contains evaluations of patient and hospital data that can be used both internally and externally. This industry solution also contains a communication component that enables data transfer both within the hospital and to external parties.

Our enhanced SAP solutions feature extended functionalities to support nursing staff in the execution of a structured and optimised nursing process. We have also optimised the whole claims management to avoid cash out. Additionally there is an integrated Master-Patient-Index (EMPI) which, on admission of a new patient, allows a mapping to the old data pool. In the event of wrong assignment this mapping can be reversed to correct errors. The SAP system has also been upgraded to an electronic Case Record (eCR), supporting a trans- and intra sector documentation communication (e.g. with independent physicians).
