IT and outsourcing services for Criminal Justice
Steria is delivering some of the most influential projects to modernise and extend the role of IT across the Criminal Justice System.
We have extensive experience of delivering practical IT and business solutions to support the tough challenges faced by today’s criminal justice agencies, such as how to achieve joined-up service delivery, transform process efficiency and reduce re-offending.
Offender Management National Infrastructure (OMNI)
Steria is helping the Ministry of Justice’s National Offender Management Service to better integrate with prisons and to support end to end offender management. Providing national support for 43 local datacentres and upgrading services to improve performance and business continuity, full user access across areas, better support, national reporting to enable solutions to be prioritised, reduced costs and a platform for the introduction of a national case management system (which Steria is also delivering).
The Criminal Justice Exchange
The Criminal Justice Exchange (CJX) is a common secure infrastructure that enables Criminal Justice Service organisations and agencies to share knowledge and information efficiently, effectively and securely. It is central to the achievement of the goals of the CJS modernisation programme.
Sensitive information can be shared online, quickly, easily and accurately, while the inefficiencies of multiple agencies producing duplicate information can be avoided, supporting a range of efficiency-focused change programmes such as Bichard 7. There is potential for the CJX to be used across other government departments.
Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC)
Within the Criminal Justice System we are supporting the virtualisation of the server estate for the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) as part of a long-term strategic partnership extending back over 10 years. This is dramatically reducing the CCRC’s physical footprint and is yielding more efficient ways of working. Virtualisation has the added benefit of supporting one of the key performance indicators of the Greening of Government ICT strategy; that of increasing average server capacity utilisation by a minimum of 50%.
The virtualisation programme is very much in line with our commitment to providing IT managed services that focus on improving service delivery and maximising efficiency in support of the CCRC’s determination to ensure all cases are dealt with effectively and expeditiously.
