Steria lands major Application Portfolio Management agreement in Norway
The Norwegian Agricultural Authority has chosen Steria as its chief partner for applications maintenance, in an agreement worth six million euros (NOK 50 million) over the next four years
"This is a major applications maintenance contract for Norway. Given the extensive remit and areas of responsibility for this project, this agreement is very exciting," states Lene Melfald, director of systems development at the IT services company, Steria Norway.
Under the agreement, Steria assumes administrative responsibility for 18 applications for the Norwegian Agricultural Authority (SLF). A team of eight Steria employees will relocate to SLF's premises.
SLF chose Steria following stiff competition from Computas, Cap Gemini, Ergo and Sirius IT. "We received five strong bids in the tender competition, with Steria's bid ranking the highest. We therefore feel confident that we have secured a good business partner for future years," explains Alf Selnesaunet, acting administrative director at the Norwegian Agricultural Authority.
Selnesaunet points out that the solution proposal presented by Steria was highly compelling. "Steria has experience of, and adapted methodologies for, flexible maintenance. Not only does it have a tremendously good programme for quality assurance and testing of deliverables for both maintenance and development, it also has extensive, relevant references within the field, demonstrating that they have done it before," says Selnesaunet.
Major push internationally
In recent years Steria has committed heavily to APM (Application Portfolio Management), and this comprehensive applications agreement with SLF is yet another feather in Steria's cap.
Steria will also supply SLF with technological and architectural consultancy. The agreement includes assistance in connection with setting up central administration processes based on IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) standards and flexible development, in addition to which the IT consultancy company will assist SLF in putting in place and implementing test regimes.
Lene Melfald, Steria, explains: "SLF has its own development agreement with three different applications suppliers, and Steria will quality-assure deliveries on behalf of the client here."
